Sports Integrity Taskforce Advisory and Working Groups

Introduction

The Sports Integrity Taskforce, in close collaboration with the National Integrity of Sport Unit, the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority, and Sport Australia and operating under the guidance Sports Integrity Steering Committee, is implementing the range of reforms outlined under the Government’s Safeguarding the Integrity of Australian Sport initiative in response to the Wood Review. Ongoing close consultation and engagement with sports stakeholders is a key element of the Taskforce’s work.

Advisory Groups

To assist with the ongoing development and implementation of Safeguarding the Integrity of Australian Sport, the Taskforce has established a series of thematic Advisory Groups and jurisdictional Working Groups to collaborate on the following key reforms:
  • National Sports Tribunal
  • Commonwealth Match-Fixing Offences
  • Intelligence and Investigations
  • Australian Sports Wagering Scheme
In relation to their respective themes, Advisory Group members have agreed to:
  • Contribute industry experience and expertise to the development and establishment of key reforms
  • Consider and provide strategic advice on discussion papers prepared by the Sports Integrity Taskforce, particularly in respect of more complex matters
  • Provide advice on sector expectations and related risks and opportunities.
Advisory group membership was determined through an expression of interest and selection by the Sport Integrity Steering Committee based on skills, experience, and diversity of representation among the nominees.

Australian Sports Wagering Scheme (ASWS AG)

The ASWS AG ensures knowledge and expertise from national sporting organisations, wagering service providers, commonwealth agencies and state and territory policy makers and regulators is provided to assist develop a sports integrity wagering regulatory framework providing clarity, transparency and consistency and support at a national level.

Intelligence and Investigations (IAI AG)

The IAI AG harnesses knowledge and expertise from law enforcement agencies, national sporting organisations, wagering service providers, commonwealth agencies, and state and territory policy makers and regulators, to assist develop and implement the intelligence and investigations capabilities of Sport Integrity Australia, particularly in relation to information sharing, to enhance sport integrity outcomes.

Commonwealth Match-Fixing Offence (CMFO AG)

The CMFO AG brings together experience and expertise from Commonwealth prosecutors, Commonwealth and state and territory law enforcement and policy agencies, as well as national sporting organisations, athlete associations and wagering service providers, to assist develop and implement Commonwealth match-fixing offences.

National Sports Tribunal (NST AG)

The NST AG provides knowledge and expertise from national sporting organisations, peak representative bodies, athlete associations, academic institutions, sports tribunals, international sports administrators, law enforcement, and sports physicians, to assist formulate the rules and procedures of the NST.

Working Groups

Sports Wagering Senior Officials (SWSO WG)

The SWSO WG brings together representatives of state and territory wagering regulatory and policy agencies, to contribute experience and expertise to the development and implementation of sports wagering related aspects of the Safeguarding the Integrity of Australian Sport reforms, principally the Australian Sports Wagering Scheme.

Law Enforcement Agency (LEA WG)

The LEA WG brings together representatives of Commonwealth, state and territory law enforcement and criminal intelligence agencies and ASADA, to contribute experience and expertise to the development and implementation of law enforcement and intelligence related aspects of the Safeguarding the Integrity of Australian Sport reforms, particularly an intelligence and investigations framework for Sport Integrity Australia, and Commonwealth match-fixing criminal offences.
