Release of the HTA Review
The Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP and the Minister for Finance and Deregulation, the Hon Lindsay Tanner MP have released the HTA Review report
The HTA Review recommends improvements to the way new health technologies, procedures and services are assessed for public and private funding in Australia, in line with international best practice. The Australian Government has agreed that 13 of the 16 recommendations made in the report should be implemented immediately.
Recommendations 10, 11 and 12 outline specific changes that will simplify the administration of the prostheses listing arrangements and remove duplication in the work of the Prostheses and Devices Committee.
The full report can be found at the Health and Ageing's, Health Technology Assessment Review
. Please note the report is 338 pages, with appendices commencing at page 115.
