The draft report contains a series of proposals for establishing a quality framework for colonoscopy in the context of the program and beyond. The report was commissioned by the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC) to advise on strategies to improve quality, consistency, and availability of colonoscopy services in Australia.

- Health Professionals Letter
This letter was sent to all health professionals involved in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program pathway to inform them of the second phase of the Program. - Information Brochure for general practitioners (PDF 203 KB)
This is a quick reference to the role of Primary Health Care Medical Practitioners in the Program and provides information on the screening pathway, duty of care, Immunochemical Faecal Occult Blood Tests (FOBTs) and payment arrangements. - National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Consultation Flip Chart
This is a quick reference consultation flip chart which provides key information on bowel cancer and bowel cancer screening. The consultation flip-chart is provided as part of the GP Educational Kits which are sent to each practice throughout Australia.
- Familial Aspects of Bowel Cancer: A Guide for Health Professionals (PDF 167 KB)
This is a chart developed by the Australian Cancer Network, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Ageing, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and The Cancer Council Australia, which provides information on prevention, screening, family history, and identifying individuals at risk. It provides a comprehensive flow-chart for assessing an individual’s risk of developing bowel cancer.
- Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Prevention, Early Detection and Management of Colorectal Cancer - A Guide for General Practitioners
This is a summary of the revised National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines for the Prevention, Early Detection and Management of Colorectal Cancer (approved 8 December 2005). It has been developed by the Australian Cancer Network, in conjunction with the NHMRC, the Department of Health and Ageing, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and The Cancer Council Australia.

Other Resources
The Department of Health and Ageing has also had Participant Stickers and Postage Paid Address Label Stickers developed for the Program.The Participant Stickers (of the Program logo) have been designed to be attached to a colonoscopy referral letter so that the patient is identified as a Program participant.
The Postage Paid Address Label Stickers are designed to be used to post the completed Assessment Form - Referred for colonoscopy/Not referred for colonoscopy following a positive FOBT result back to the Register.
Both of these items are provided as part of the GP Educational Kits that are being sent to each practice throughout Australia.
