Request for Tender

This page contains information on the current Tender for supply and pathology analysis of Faecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) kits and support services for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

On 7 October 2009, the Department of Health and Ageing informed organisations that had submitted a tender to Request for Tender 153/0809 for the Supply and Pathology Analysis of FOBT kits and Support Services for the second stage of Phase 2 of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program that the tender process would be ceased on public interest grounds.

New information about the testing process has led to the need for changes to the administration of the Program. These changes were not anticipated by the original RFT and the Department considers that the revised specifications would require a new approach to market.

The Department's decision to cease the tender process has been made in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines, which govern the conduct of Australian Government tender processes.

The second stage of Phase 2 of the Program covers the screening of people turning 50, 55 or 65 of age between 1 July 09 and 30 Dec 2010. Ceasing the tender process will not affect the re-screening of participants under the Program as previously announced by the Department.
